As a company that strives to have a positive impact on the environment, we were very pleased when councils in Devon, Cornwall and Plymouth declared a climate emergency last year because we hoped eco-friendly initiatives would be put in place throughout the South West. In turn, we also hoped other local and county councils would follow suit.
As it turns out, there is an ongoing sustainability revolution in the Devon and Cornwall areas; a story recently released by DevonLive documents 50 different businesses in the area who have taken significant steps to help the environment. And whilst we were disappointed to have not been included in their list, we were delighted to see so many other local companies taking their eco-credentials as seriously as we do.
So, how are we doing our bit here at Plasloc? Read on, and we’ll tell you!
Our eco-credentials start with our patented Plasloc product. This environmentally friendly alternative to other building materials is made from 100% post-consumer or post-industrial PVC-U. This stops a large amount of plastic from going to landfill. We also take steps to minimise the amount of required transportation when we use it for the following applications:
Once it has been used, it is granulated and ready to be used to make more of our product via a closed-loop recycling method that generates no waste.
We operate a strict zero-waste policy throughout all aspects of our business. For this reason, the Plasloc product is recycled at the end of its life. So, even when we sell it to our clients, we insist on buying back the components once they’ve finished using it so we can recycle them.
We generate revenue through the recycling of our Plasloc products. However, instead of using it for ourselves, we donate all of it to Just One Ocean, to help with their work of preserving the ocean for future generations.
If you’re interested in donating to this cause yourself, details on how to do so are available on our Just One Ocean donation page.
